The Trevor Whelan Collection Isle of Wight The Isle of Wight is an enchanting location in its own right, but to many transport students and enthusiasts its appeal is even more unique. The ferries plying their trade across the Solent; the railway network using redundant stock from the mainland; buses criss-crossing the island in a seemingly endless variety of route permutations; even two airfields. All these things and more make the Isle of Wight a source of constant fascination.

Some of my very first photographs were taken on the island, including this evocative image of a Southern Vectis
Bristol Lodekka seen waiting by the former station building at Bembridge in the Summer of 1967. Sadly, the original
negative, along with the bus and the building, has long since been lost, but my affection for the Isle of Wight has
